Safety Tips
Last updated 12 October 2026
Most people are genuine, but you can’t know someone from an app. These habits help you stay safe. If you are ever in danger, call 911.
Before you meet
Chat in Wander first. Keep your phone number, home address, workplace and daily routine to yourself until you trust someone.
A video call before meeting is a good check that someone is who they say.
“Verified” means a moderator matched a selfie to their photos. It is not a background check, so still take care.
Never send money, gift cards or financial details to someone you met online, whatever the story.
When you meet
Meet somewhere public and busy, such as the cafés and parks in the meetup planner. Never meet at someone’s home first.
Tell a friend who you’re meeting, where and when. “Share plans with a friend” in the meetup planner does this for you.
Get there and back on your own. Keep your phone charged, and watch your drink.
If something feels off, leave. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.
Using Wander’s privacy tools
Set a home zone in Profile, so you never show up near where you live.
Go Invisible, or hide for an hour, whenever you want some space.
Block and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable. They won’t know you reported them.
Getting help
In an emergency, call 911.
